The correct original type of carpet that all Big Healeys came with is called 'Karvel' carpet;

Karvel is distinctive for its short stiff rows of fibers, bonded to a jute/burlap backing that made the carpet stiffer and more durable than most others. The backing also helps it to lay flat and requires no edge binding unless for aesthetic reasons..

For decades, Karvel had been out of production and impossible to get, but over the past 15yrs or so, it's become available again in black, blue and red.
Here you can see a sample of new red Karvel with some old original red Karvel:

While Karvel is correct for the Healeys, we understand that some owners prefer a softer look and feel, and/or prefer some other colour options..
For that we also offer Wilton Wool or German Velour carpet as good quality substitutes, in just about any colour of the rainbow, just tell us what you're looking for and we'll send you some samples to choose from,

All of our carpet sets come cut and bound to original spec patterns and practices, with the rubber 'Austin' heel pad sewn to the drivers side mat only.

We also include the correct black rings & brass carpet snaps just like the factory used - another detail that only we offer the Rightway!

We also offer the correct 1/4" black coated jute insulation kits for use under the carpet mats, including the exposed pieces that were glued to the inner top sides of the foot boxes...

Edge Binding,

There's often some confusion when describing the different styles of edge binding available in our interior kits...
Originally most British and European sports cars of the classic era (including all Healeys) were bound using the "hand rolled" binding technique.

This is easily identified by its neat clean look with no visible stitching  on the binding face.
This method actually requires being sewn in 2 passes: 1 to attach, and the second to roll the binding over and "stitch in the ditch".

The other technique that is used by just about everyone else, is known as "machine" binding.
Machine binding is identified by the stitch line visibly going through the binding face.
This method uses a sewing machine attachment that allows the sewer to attach and roll the binding in just one pass.
It's certainly quicker to do, but not correct/original for Healeys.
However if you'd prefer your mats to be machine bound, you can request it for a slight discount.
